Tektronix P6247 Differential Probe PROBE ONLY

The Tektronix P6247 enable users to make time domain or frequency domain measurements on high bandwidth signals commonly found in disk drive, digital IC design (RAMBUS) and communication applications (Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE-1394 Firewire and Fibre Channel). The small probe head geometry and assorted probe tip accessories allow these probes to easily accommodate manual probing of surface mount devices while maintaining high CMRR. The P6247 are ideal for design verification of disk drive read channel electronics and timing analysis for troubleshooting ground bounce problems associated with high speed logic. They can also be used for pulse shape or cross talk compliance testing of high speed communication signals.

The Agilent N4693A MW electronic calibration (ECal) module makes calibration of vector network analyzers fast, easy and accurate. The RF ECal system is now easily controlled by one of two methods depending on the network analyzer. The Agilent PNA and ENA series of network analyzers controls the module directly via the USB interface. The modules can also be controlled via an 85097B interface kit when used with an Agilent 8753E/ES/ET or 8720D/ES/ET. (This requires a special parallel cable and firmware Rev. 7.74).

ECal is an ideal solution for calibrating network analyzers. Performing a full two-port calibration takes less than half the time and number of connections using ECal versus mechanical cal kits. Furthermore, the accuracy of the calibration is comparable between electronic and mechanical methods. Traditional mechanical calibrations require intensive operator interaction which is prone to errors. With ECal, the operator simply connects the ECal module to the network analyzer and the software controls the rest.

Tektronix SD-20 Loop-Through Sampling Head

The SD20 is a single-channel, 20 GHz loopthrough sampling head designed for low-loss testing in applications such as microwave systems research and development, digital device characterization and high-speed digital communications circuit design. It provides an acquisition rise time of 17.5 ps with typically 750 µVRMS of noise (350 µV with smoothing) to ensure clean, undistorted signals. The SD20 is nonterminated and keeps losses to a minimum by routing the signal of interest directly through the sampling head without the need of a power divider. The SD20 can also be used for customized TDR measurements of transmission lines and controlled impedance devices. An external signal generator may be used, instead of the SD24 step generator, to tailor the TDR stimulus to fit a particular situation. For instance, slower slew rates or higher amplitude may be utilized, or you may perform half-sine or impulse testing. In digital communications, the SD20 is useful for viewing and triggering on the clock signal without the use of a power divider.
