The Newport BK-3 Locking Kinematic Base measures 3″ square. The BK series has a swiveling stainless element in the bottom half, allowing it to be precisely located on your optical bench or breadboard. The top half kinematically locates on balls and sockets to locate in the same position every time you remove and replace it. Part of Newport’s BK series of Kinematic Mounts, this is a good comprimise between size and stability. The top element of this base is drilled and tapped to accept Newport mounts and positioners.

Newport Model 36 has an elevation tilt adjustment and a rotation adjustment that rotates the mounting platform about the kinematic pivot point — ideal for use as a pointer. With components mounted on the same face as the micrometers, the rotation provides an azimuth adjustment; components mounted on the opposite side are rotated in-plane.
